IT Band Syndrome
IT Band Friction Syndrome (ITBS) is one of the most common overuse injuries affecting runners, and is occurs when the iliotibial band (IT band – the ligament that runs down the outside of the thigh from the hip to the shin) is tight or inflamed. It is usually caused by hip instability, as well as over pronation of the foot.
Unfortunately, IT Band Syndrome commonly results in chronic pain derived from the ankle / foot, hip or knee.
